  1. Bruce Lee: The Incomparable Fighter

    Bruce Lee: The Incomparable Fighter

    $20.00

A review from a satisfied customer: M.Uyehara has written this interesting biography of Bruce Lee. The book describes his journey through Kung Fu and the development of his own style (Jeet Kune Do), and also the development of his own personal life and studies of oriental philosophy. This is not a text book of techniques and styles but is a story of one man's life. I enjoyed the book for its real time, accurate accounts, with pictures of his acting career and personal life. It could have been improved by the inclusion of some information on his techniques, and some diagrams. Though this information is available in other books such as Bruce Lee's Fighting Method Vol 1-4. I really enjoyed this book, it is an easy read and I would recommend it for anyone interested in martial arts Learn More

Ed Parker's Infinte Insights into Kenpo V.4

    $21.00

Sr. Grandmaster of Kenpo Karate Ed Parker Sr.'s Volume IV of "Infinite Insights into Kenpo" is an adventure in the world of often taken for granted, and overlooked, mental and physical constituents. With an emphasis on the imperative need for a marriage of mind and body for success in combat, he discusses the need for physical skills to become conditioned responses. Mr. Parker expounds on numerous concepts ranging from mental attributes, breathing, target areas and zone theories, to how principles and concepts work chronologically. With an admonition by the Master to read each chapter carefully, he reminds students that it is the application of the total, tailored to the individual, that optimizes opportunity. This Volume is a must for the serious student of the Martial Arts. The almost mystic "Universal Pattern" is finally revealed some twenty-four years after it's initial publication. It resembles "God's blueprint for the Universe". Mr. Parker views it from unusual angles and differing dimensions. Preparing true disciples for further light and knowledge, Mr. Parker indicated that Volume V expounds in more detail on the principles and concepts contained in specifically selected, anatomically illustrated case studies of motion. 9. Karate Do: My Way of Life DVD

Karate Do: My Way of Life DVD

    $24.95

Linking the time when karate was a strictly Okinawan art of self-defense shrouded in the deepest secrecy and the present day, when it has become a martial art practiced throughout the world, is Gichin Funakoshi, the "Father of Karate-do."
Out of modesty, he was reluctant to write this autobiography and did not do so until he was nearly ninety years of age. Trained in the Confucian classics, he was a schoolteacher early in life, but after decades of study under the foremost masters, he gave up his livelihood to devote the rest of his life to the propagation of the Way of Karate. Under his guidance, techniques and nomenclature were refined and modernized, the spiritual essence was brought to the fore, and karate evolved into a true martial art.
Various forms of empty-hand techniques have been practiced in Okinawa for centuries, but due to the lack of historical records, fancy often masquerades as fact. In telling of his own famous teachers-and not only of their mastery of technique but of the way they acted in critical situations-the author reveals what true karate is. The stories he tells about himself are no less instructive: his determination to continue the art, after having started it to improve his health; his perseverance in the face of difficulties, even of poverty; his strict observance of the way of life of the samurai; and the spirit of self-reliance that he carried into an old age kept healthy by his practice of Karate-do.
